Asynchronous developments, perpetual transformations, and shifting paradigms continuously challenge the way we perceive ourselves and the world around us.
At Dutch Design Week 2015, Dutch Invertuals presented No Static, an exhibition investigating the relationship between movement, identity, and our increasingly digital lives. As screens and digital interfaces become ever more present, our connection to the physical world begins to shift. Dutch Invertuals explored how design can restore this connection by placing the body, movement, and material experience at the centre of interaction.
The immaterial world is gaining ground; we attach ourselves to digital interfaces, exchange privacy for virtual anonymity, and increasingly construct our identities online. In response, No Static asks how physical experiences can help us reconnect with ourselves and our surroundings.
For this exhibition, Dutch Invertuals researched the concept of motion as both a physical and emotional force. Rather than viewing movement as a purely functional phenomenon, the participating designers explored how motion can shape perception, influence behaviour, and create new relationships between people, objects, and space.
