The journal of the explorer,
where drawings bring a fantasy world to life.

This summer, for Hermès, our studio created 27 window displays across seven cities in the Benelux and the Nordics — a fantastical world featuring everything from paper mushrooms to cheerful jellyfish and richly textured backdrops.

Inspired by Hermès’ annual theme of drawing, each window offers a moment of curiosity, inviting people to pause, look closer, and explore. This series of window displays captures the voyage of an explorer wandering through a fantastical world, where discoveries unfold like pages from a travel journal.

“As a studio we always try to enhance the experience trough texture, color and elements that seem to move.”

Wendy Plomp

As the wind blows pages out of the explorers’ journal, all the elements are uncovered in the windows as little adventures. Hermès accessories are exposed in these worlds as wonders or parts of species.

All the panels are made expressively by hand in our studio. These textured backgrounds set the stage for carefully selected elements like premium Hermès leather for the book cover and wool mushrooms inside the loop. More subtle materials such as wood and paper are used to draw attention to the story and helped shape the visual language, leading to a coherent and intriguing composition.

The interesting textures and intuitive patterns of the backgrounds make the aspect of drawing present
